Women's wing

Initiated by its President, Mr. Ramalingum Maistry, the women’s wing of the PAIOI was created to encourage more girls and women to join the port and maritime sector which is predominantly male dominated, and to promote the career growth and development of the women working in the port and maritime sector through the provision of professional training which would thus, enable them, to aspire for promotional prospects.

Thus, on January 24, 2019, the creation of this wing was inaugurated at the Labourdonnais Waterfront Hotel, Port Louis, Mauritius. It brings together nine women port managers from Reunion Island, Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar, Comoros and Mayotte. At the second meeting of the women's wing held on 5 April 2019 in Seychelles, a short and medium-term action plan was drawn up, as well as the establishment of the Bureau. Mrs. Nazeema Seelarbokus, representative of Mauritius, became President of the wing, Mrs. Géraldine Palama, from Reunion Island, Vice-President, Mrs. Nadia Ramadane of the Comoros, Secretary, and Mrs. Emily Mousbe from Seychelles, Assistant-Secretary. The PAIOI women's wing is establishing a Memorandum of Understanding with WiLAT HK to take advantages of their expertise in field of training, and their international influence. In practical terms, the PAIOI women's wing wants to provide adapted training courses, inspired by the WiLAT HK CALF Training Program, to women staff members of the PAIOI member ports to enable them to increase their skills more quickly.
