First training launching for the ports of the Indian ocean islands

On Monday, June 17, 2019, a first training session on port security and safety began at the Mauritius Ports Authority (MPA) new Training Center for a week. This training is for 12 port employees from Mauritius, Reunion Island, Seychelles, Mayotte, Comoros (Moroni), and Madagascar (Toamasina), and is provided by three experts from the Harbor Institute of Teaching and Research of Le Havre (IPER). The dual purpose of this project is to enable port staff to upgrade their skills in ISPS standards to improve security systems within ports, as well as to create a true community of Indian ocean ports in order to increase their visibility on the international maritime scene. This first session is preceded by an audit week of all ports, from 10 to 14 June 2019, by the trainers of the IPER. The training will have a total of three major sessions, including one at a distance, and should be completed by October 2019.
